Bigley Shoes and Clothing

The Bigley brand owns several stores on Bolton Street in Bobcaygeon. Shoes and Clothing, Cottage Kitchen, Beach House and Sweet Treats (menu). <–They have soft serve ice cream! Their window displays are always a visual treat that I admire when I walk by. I can’t wait for the day we can all go inside to shop.

You can visit their website here.

Allen Stanley Signing My Leafs Jersey

Allen Stanley played for many NHL teams including the Toronto Maple Leafs (1958-1968). Four time Stanley Cup winner, including the last cup The Leafs won. After retirement from hockey, Allan and his wife Barbara owned the Bee Hive Hockey School Complex near Bobcaygeon.

I had also brought a metal Shirriff coin with his picture on it. In the 1950s, Shirriff Salada gave away coins with of NHL players on them in their food packages. He was shocked to see it and wondered where I had got it. I told him I bought it in an antique store. He just burst out laughing and said something along the lines of how that dated him. We got a good laugh out of that. Maybe I shouldn’t have said “antique store”

Bucket of Snowballs

I made these Christmas tree ornaments from used k-cups. An easy craft to make with your family. Acrylic paint and plastic don’t work well together. Whenever I have a difficult to paint object, I go to my usual method, using watered down school glue and used one layer of a cheap napkin to cover the item. Let dry and decorate any way you wish.It does take time for the napkin and glue to dry before you can paint it. You could use good markers instead.

Greetings By Kelly

I was so happy to receive my first Christmas card of the season. Kelly, from Greetings By Kelly, sent me this hand-made card and matching ornament. Thanks!

You can see her wonderful creations at her website here.

I designed and help run her website (which I haven’t kept up with because her focus is now on Facebook. One day I will get to it. You can still see most of her creations there. Lately she has been making amazing signs and decor with chalk paint. She even gave me a lesson on it and I think I found another hobby.

Happy Thanksgiving

Many of us did not celebrate the way we would have liked to. Still, I am grateful to have shared the day with my sister and her family. We are in each others bubble. She lives here in Bobcaygeon.

We had Thanksgiving poutine this year. Believe me when I tell you stuffing, aka dressing, takes this dish to a whole new level.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. One day things will be back to normal and we can be with our friends and family again. That will truly be a day to be thankful about, right?

Kelly from “Greetings by Kelly” made the Thanksgiving Cracker in the photo above. Such a talented person! She has a website showcasing all her hand-made greeting cards and gift supplies that you can visit here.
