I have to post to let everyone know what a wonderful thing W & G Excavating did on Christmas Eve at our local Foodland. They randomly walked up to cashiers and told them they were paying for that customers groceries. They did not make a big show of it either. Just quietly nodding or whispering it to the cashier. Then walked away to pay at another cashiers line.
They were there for a few hours. Many locals had their groceries paid for that day. Not only that, when they left, they left money for a cashier to choose the next person. It restores my faith that there are so many kind people out there in this world.
He said they were celebrating 25 years of service in they area and wanted to pay it forward, as so many people have supported his business over the years. All he asked for, was for the customer to pay it forward to someone else.

Hamburger Cake From FoodLand
I asked Abbey who works at our local Foodland to make this cake. I missed a friends birthday and thought this would make up for it. Abbey is such a talented baker. Isn’t this an awesome cake? I can’t eat sweets but she knew my Mom can and brought over a big slice for her. She said it was delicious and not overly sweet. You know how some icings can be too sweet? This one was perfection! Thanks Abbey!

I finally ordered the Jalapeno Burger and it was awesome! Everyone in town kept telling me how good the burgers were and they were right. I hear they cook a mean prime rib dinner too. Loving this the menu, check it out here. The owners are so nice. I got to go in (practicing all health and safety rules) and see all of the changes they have made. It looks great. I noticed they are adding garage doors out front like the others. Be sure to stop and eat there if you are ever in Bobcaygeon.
If you follow them on Facebook, they let you know about things that are not on their menu that they are making that day. BBQ’s too!
The Jalapeno Burger I had was a house made beef patty, sriracha mayo, Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, jalapenos, onion rings. (which is served with a choice of house-cut fries, pasta salad, soup of the day.) I had the fries. But check this out: you can substitute for garden, Caesar or Greek salad for $2.99 or poutine, onion rings, or sweet potato fries for $3.99. Substitute for gluten friendly bun $1.49
They are located right near the Locks on 38 Bolton St. You can have your meal delivered to your door.

London Trading Post
I had the pleasure of visiting the London Trading Post here in Bobcaygeon before the lockdown. It was near Thanksgiving, last year, and was one of the only places you could buy Mincemeat. That stuff was harder to find than a needle in a haystack. They had a nice selection of British food.
It was the huge selection of ladies hats that won me over. So fancy! If you are looking for quality clothing, look no further. The store is located on 3 King St. E. You can visit their website here.
The website says: We will be open for sale of British food products in store from 12-4 every day! We do have sanitization measures in place, and we hope that we can work together to keep both you and us safe.
All other products will be available for curbside pickup, which can be handled by calling us at 705-738-1956.
Trease Cannabis Store

Trease Cannabis is Bobcaygeon’s first legal retailer launched by CEO, Abe Navarro. (Who is such a wonderful person) I had the opportunity for a peek inside before the lockdown. He and his father turned the interior into a visual wonder. Just like spending a night at the cottage with friends and roasting marshmallows over a fire. A rustic getaway.
Abe and his family are a welcome addition to the town. When you meet them, it feels like running into an old friend. You can read more about them here. I can’t wait to go back and take more pictures!

Kawartha Dairy
How lucky can I be to live in the same town where they make Kawartha Dairy products? That’s right, they make it right here in Bobcaygeon. You can be sure I will be posting pictures of all the treats I buy over the summer!

If you visit, make sure you go around the corner on Joseph Street to get a picture with the famous Kawartha Dairy Cow. Yes, it’s a thing, people do that. I wonder if he has a name? I will have to ask.
If not, maybe they should have a contest to pick one. The winner would get free products. Wouldn’t that be great?
Bobcaygeon Helps Food Bank
During these hard times, there are so many people that need help, if you can, consider a donation to the Bobcaygeon Helps Food Bank. It is now located at the Lions Club at 55 Main Street.
Food donations can be dropped off in the bins at Valu-mart or Foodland.
Great examples of nonperishable food items include:

- Soup and Stews
- Rice
- Peanut Butter
- Oatmeal
- Canned or dried legumes
- Pasta and pasta sauces
- Canned fruits and vegetables

Bigley Shoes and Clothing
The Bigley brand owns several stores on Bolton Street in Bobcaygeon. Shoes and Clothing, Cottage Kitchen, Beach House and Sweet Treats (menu). <–They have soft serve ice cream! Their window displays are always a visual treat that I admire when I walk by. I can’t wait for the day we can all go inside to shop.
